WALL, N.J. – New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), the principal subsidiary of New Jersey Resources (NYSE: NJR), is partnering with the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium, along with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, on Ocean Fun Days, two days of free events and activities focusing on the Jersey Shore’s natural treasures.

“NJNG serves two of our state’s four coastal counties, and protecting our beaches and marine environment is fundamental to our business,” said Laurence M. Downes, chairman and CEO of NJNG. “Our goal for Ocean Fun Days is to help build a greater understanding of our ocean ecosystems and how we can help protect and enjoy them for generations to come.”

New Jersey scientists and researchers will explore the many wonders of the state’s coastline and how to preserve this precious resource. There will be free hands-on marine and environmental programs, tours, and special activities for all ages. Visitors can learn about beach and bay habitats, observe marine animals close up, make coastal crafts and more.

Ocean Fun Days will be held on Saturday, June 5, at the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium’s headquarters on Sandy Hook in Monmouth County, and Sunday, June 6, at the Department of Environmental Protection Lighthouse Center for Natural Resources Education in Waretown, Ocean County. Event hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine.

“We are pleased to showcase our educational facility in Waretown and partner with NJNG and the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium on this event,” said Laurie Pettigrew, principal biologist, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
